Force Over Mass Capital
Methodology notes
We used Crunchbase data to power up this analysis.
In order to maintain a consistent dataset, we considered seed rounds which happened in the last 10 years.
European Seed Investments
Two requirements for a portfolio company of the VC firm to make this list:
1/ The initial investment of the VC firm is labelled a pre-seed or a seed as per Crunchbase data.
2/ For US Funds, the portfolio company has European headquarters as per Crunchbase data (note: this leaves out of the analysis a few EU portfolio companies who chose to incorporate in the US).
VC type
- Geo focus VC: funds that invest primarily (ie >50%) in one geography.
- Pan-European VC: funds that invest all over Europe, with no geography over 50%.
- US platforms investing un Europe: funds that mostly invest in the US, but also invest in Europe.
Seed-to-A graduation ratio after 4 years
It can take a while to raise a Series A after a Pre-Seed or a Seed. Therefore, we considered that live portfolio companies whose pre-seed or seed happened less than four years ago might still be in the process of maturing and have a chance at graduation. Portfolio companies who raised a Series A as per Crunchbase data are considered "graduated".
